Vessi shoes were designed by people that live in Canada, in Vancouver, in a rainy climate. It kind of just look like regular sneakers that I wear all the time.

So, these are really really lightweight shoes. They have removable insoles that are really really soft, it’s actually called the Cloud Comfort All Day insoles.

I’ve worn them on sand. I’ve worn them on rocks. I’ve worn them in pouring rain. I’ve worn them in puddles. And my feet never got wet and never hurt.

Now for the cleaning.

I don’t know if they can be washed in the washing machine, but I threw them in the machine. They were so dirty when I got them home.

I just took the insoles out, threw them in the wash, and then was so surprised when I pulled them out. They look brand new.

I just put them in the sun to dry so they wouldn’t warp.

If you’re going to a rainy climate, it’s really a good travel shoe. Something that’s waterproof that you can walk all day in, that’s not going to hinder any of your travel plans.

After wearing them for a long time, there are no stretch marks or signs of wear that you can see. After washing, like I said, they look as good as new.

So if you’re looking for a reliable pair of waterproof sneakers, I highly recommend taking a look at Vessi.

Allbirds Wool Runner and Tree Runner

You have a wool-topped insole, caster bean on the bottom, wool topped on top. So you can wear them with or without socks—very comfortable. I have used these in temperatures from 20°F to 75°F and been good to go, with or without socks.

Tree Runner, on the other hand, is made of eucalyptus material. It is a woven eucalyptus TENCEL. This is a warmer weather shoe to keep your feet cool. Again, you can wear it with or without socks.

I’ve noticed is this TENCEL material seems to have less give. It has plenty of give to keep comfortable, but I find that the wool has slightly more give.

Let’s compare key factors such as waterproofing, comfort, and price.

Waterproofing

Vessi shoes are known for being 100% waterproof thanks to their patented Dyma-Tex material.

Allbirds also has a waterproof Mizzles model with a fluoride-free water-repellent coating. While they can withstand light rain and wet weather, they are not suitable for more severe wet conditionsy.

Comfort

Undoubtedly, Vessi shoes are very lightweight comfortable, with a snug fit, however, the waterproof material makes these shoes less breathable compared to Allbirds models, primarily due to the use of soft wool.

Price

Vessi shoes cost around $135 USD, with a 90-day return policy in their original condition. Allbirds shoes are a bit cheaper, with an average price ranging from $115 to $135 USD, and a 30-day trial period during which you can return worn shoes if unsatisfied.
